Bears blast Na Alii 46-0 By ROBERT COLLIAS, Staff Writer WAILUKU – The last time these two teams met in a November game, both were headed deep into their state tournaments and they played a thriller that was decided on the final play. It was an entirely different story on Friday night at War Memorial Stadium for the Baldwin and King Kekaulike high school football teams. The Bears, state Division I semifinalists each of the last two seasons as champions of the Maui Interscholastic League, felt they needed to make a statement that their spread offense was ready to break out for the first time this season. Mark that mission accomplished. Behind five touchdown passes from quarterback Jordan Helle, the Bears rolled past Na Alii 46-0. The Bears improved to 8-1 overall and 7-0 in the MIL. King Kekaulike, the state Division II champions last year, finished 3-6 (3-4 MIL). Last season, the Bears beat Na Alii in the last game of the regular season, 25-22, on a final-play field goal. Two of the touchdown passes Friday went to Chase Nakamura, who caught 20 scoring passes from Helle last season in 12 games. Nakamura caught four passes for 145 yards on Friday. 2.Nov.2007
